This intensive 6-session course is designed to give Year 5 children a confident and well-prepared start to their 11+ exam season. With exams approaching this autumn, summer is the perfect time to consolidate English skills, fill any gaps, and build the exam technique needed to perform under pressure.

What we will cover each week
You may need to help your child join the Zoom session at the beginning. Once they are settled, students work independently, helping them build confidence and enjoy the learning experience.
Yes. A printable resource pack is provided in advance of each session so parents can print it for their child to use during the lesson. These resources are designed to support active participation and help children engage fully with the teaching. These are uploaded under each section (lesson).
If your child is unable to attend a live session, a recording will be available on this platform, so they can catch up in their own time. This means they won’t miss out on the learning.
This course is designed for children moving into Year 6 in September 2026 who are preparing for 11+ entrance exams in the autumn.
Each session is one hour long, running from 10am to 11am every Monday from 20th July to 24th August 2026. Six sessions in total.
Each session focuses on a specific English skill, for example creative writing one week and comprehension the next. This focused approach means children build depth in each area rather than covering everything superficially. Exam technique is woven into every session so children practise applying their skills under timed, exam-style conditions throughout the course.
